Recently, I’ve been pretty swamped with work. I’m teaching a Music Fundamentals course, helping with some grants, two major commissions, and of course, coding. So, I’ve been neglecting getting super deep into setting up the perfect Ableton Live session before jumping into the compositional process.

So, in my spare time, I’ve been defining templates for the different movements I’m working on. Since most of them are going to use similar effects chains and returns, it’s been really efficient to create a master template and then to tweak the differences for each individual movement as needed. Yeah, there are some occasional movements that require serious tweaks to the setup, but overall, it’s been a huge help to my compositional process.
